February 1, 2013 Dear Principal or Youth Coordinator: In an effort to generate greater interest in speaking among African American youth, The BIG Pentagon Chapter of Blacks In Government (BIG) will sponsor an Oratorical contest on Thursday, May 29, 2013, 6:30 PM, in the NOSC Conference Room BE884 at the Pentagon. The Oratorical Contest provides young African Americans the opportunity to enhance their communication skills. This oratorical competition is for youth in grades nine (9) through twelve (12). The competition theme is, “Parents Just don’t Understand: Bridging the Communication Gap between Parents and Teens?” Applications must be received no later than May 22, 2013 . The students will compete locally, regionally and nationally. The first, second and third place winners will receive awards at each contest level.
