What is Geography? The study of the earth and its features and of the distribution of life on the earth, including human life and the effects of human activity. The science of space and place that brings together Earth's physical and human dimensions in the integrated study of people, places, and environments. The science that involves a combination of physical and cultural disciplines which are used to describe, explain and help us to understand our environment and our relationship to it. Geography is the study of man's natural environment and how it influences his social and cultural development.
Mrs. LaPorte’s definition of geography: The study of the physical and human features of the earth and the interactions between the two.

Geography is all about asking questions about our surroundings.
1. ASK GEOGRAPHIC QUESTIONS Turn observations into a question you can explore.
2. ACQUIRE RESOURCES Think about what information you will need and where you can find it.
3. EXPLORE GEOGRAPHIC DATA Explore the data through visual representations like charts, graphs and maps.
4. ANALYZE INFORMATION Highlight key comparisons and look for patterns and relationships in the information. Make predictions based on these.
5. ACT UPON KNOWLEDGE Use what you’ve learned to make better decisions.
