The ARCPAnnual Review of Competence Progression Intending Trainers’ Course
The what? • Each summer “The Panel” meets to review the e-portfolios of trainees • Only those deemed to have “Unsatisfactory Progress” or who have been “Referred to Panel” considered (and 10% as quality control) and all ST3s • Virtual exercise • Typically consists of a lay assessor, an ES and 1 or 2 TPDs (from another scheme) and a chairperson from HENE.
The Educational Supervisor’s Duties • Complete the ESR 2 weeks before the panel meets • Flag up to the Training Programme as early as possible if likely to make a judgement of Unsatisfactory Progress or Refer to Panel so a report can be produced.
The Training Programme’s Duties Submit a short report to the panel detailing any extra information they have: • Review meetings • Extenuating Circumstances • First month concerns forms • Etc.
Outcomes: • Satisfactory Progress • Has gained all the required competences for the completion of training • Unsatisfactory Progress: • Development of specific competences required • Additional Training Time Required • Released from Training!
