Idaho Reading Indicator (IRI) • Grades K-3. • Individual reading test administered three times/year. • 2007-2008 was a new test and is a new baseline • Scores: 3 – Benchmark 2 – Strategic 1 – Intensive • On Target: • Reach the Spring Benchmark or • Increase the percentage of students meeting Benchmark (3) by 5% from Fall to Spring.
Kindergarten 13 out of 14 schools met the Benchmark for Kindergarten.
First Grade 12 out of 14 schools met the Benchmark for first grade.
Second Grade 9 out of 14 schools have met the Benchmark for second grade.
Third Grade 12 out of 14 schools have met the Benchmark for third grade.
Idaho Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) • Reading, language usage, math in grades 3 through 8 and 10. • 2007-2008 Fall & Spring – 2008-2009 Spring only. • Science in grades 5, 7, & 10. • Given on computer. • Used to measure adequate yearly progress (AYP) in the spring. • Passing score required for graduation. • Retest opportunity offered four times each year.

NCLB and AYP The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act requires that all: • students meet the standards for reading and math by 2014. • schools demonstrate adequate yearly progress (AYP) toward achieving that goal.
NCLB and AYP Each state has set incremental benchmarks to reach 100% proficiency by 2014. • Math requirement: • 2006-2008: 70% students proficient • 2008-2009: 70% students proficient • 2009-2010: 80% students proficient • Reading requirement: • 2006-2008: 78% students proficient • 2008-2009: 78% students proficient • 2009-2010: 85% students proficient
