  1. Mayor’s and Commissioners’ Pay TallahasseeVoices is a pro bono internet survey panel sponsored by Kerr & Downs Research with special media support of WCTV, which requested this survey. Survey was conducted March 20th, 2012. 284 of the 5,000 panel members responded. Results are weighted to reflect the demographics of the 90%+ local residents who have access to the internet at home, work, or school. Mayor & City Commissioners should report amount of outside income • An overwhelming 84% of citizens believe that Mayor Marks and City Commissioners should have to report not only their sources of outside pay, but also how much they earn from each source of income. • County Commissioners presently report how much they earn from each outside source.   3. Leon County Commissioners are Overpaid* • Based on a sample of TallahasseeVoices panelists, 70% believe that County Commissioners are overpaid. • While Mayor Marks earns the same amount as County Commissioners, only 45% think the Mayor is overpaid. • Only 32% of citizens believe that City Commissioners are overpaid. • *Information given to TallahasseeVoices panelists: • City Commissioners make about $36,000 a year for what is supposed to be a part-time job. • County Commissioners make about $72,000 for what are supposed to be part-time jobs. • The Mayor of Tallahassee makes about $72,000 for what is supposed to be a full-time job. Mayor Marks should not be able to hold other paying jobs* • 54% of citizens think Mayor Marks should not be allowed to hold other paying jobs while serving as Mayor. • Residents do believe that City (83%) and County (77%) Commissioners should be allowed to hold other paying jobs while serving.
