About SIGNALS SIGNALS is a group of ‘Students, Interested Parties, and Graduates Networking And Liaising around Sustainability.’ Stemming from the Innovation, Science, and Environment Stream of Carleton's School of Public Policy and Administration (SPPA), SIGNALS brings together students, alumni, and professors who are concerned about sustainable development issues. The goal of SIGNALS is to create networking and information-sharing opportunities for members, and to facilitate initiatives aimed at furthering sustainable development. Event Information This year, we have the great honour of hosting another fantastic speaker, Gord Miller, Commissioner of the Environment of Ontario since 2000. Please join us on Friday, January 23rd for a stimulating and fun evening and networking with other fascinating individuals interested in sustainability. Our networking session allows SIGNALS members to kick off the year's most important discussion topics. During dinner, the opportunity to converse with all interested parties is furthered as your place setting will have you dine with a diverse mix of academics and professionals.
Event Information 2015 Speaker Presentation: Gord Miller Gord Miller was first sworn in as the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario on January 31, 2000, to oversee the continued implementation of the Environmental Bill of Rights (EBR). As an independent officer appointed by the Legislative Assembly, Commissioner Miller oversees 13 ministries and monitors and reports annually on: • ◾Government compliance with the provisions of the EBR • ◾Government progress on reducing greenhouse gas emissions • ◾Activities in Ontario to reduce the use or make more efficient use of electricity, natural gas, propane, oil and transportation fuels. • Prior to his appointment as Environmental Commissioner, Gord Miller worked as a scientist in pollution abatement and in environmental education and training. As Environmental Commissioner, Gord Miller has released twelve annual reports, seven special reports, four Greenhouse Gas Progress Reports and four Energy Conservation Progress Reports to the Ontario Legislature.

Sponsor Inclusions and Services • Sponsor Registration SIGNALS issues a pre-set number of complimentary full evening passes (according to sponsorship level) to the sponsorship company. The name and title for these badges must be received no later than January 20, 2015. Each company is encouraged to have as many participants to the event as possible from their companies, however, passes in addition to those included in the sponsorship package must be purchased separately (at a discounted rate for Gold and Silver package holders). • Parking Lagos Bar and Grill offers 2 hours of free parking at the closest parking lot • Conference Programme Company Listing Submit a logo organization to be used for the 2013 SIGNALS Banquet website. Sponsor Rules and Regulations • Sponsor Confirmation Full payments will receive Sponsorship confirmation. SIGNALS reserves the right to accept or reject, in its sole discretion, any application to sponsor. Please fill out the Application To Sponsor Form found in this document. • Networking Event Sponsor The first confirmed Gold sponsor will have a signature drink named after them available for purchase, during the networking cocktail reception from 5:30pm – 8:30 pm. Please confirm as soon as possible to ensure that you will get to take advantage of this opportunity. Further payment options may become available. For further information please email the fundraising team at fundraising@signalsnetwork.ca No sponsorship space will be held or assigned without full payment. Full payment is due upon submission of the Application to Sponsor Form.
Sponsor Rules and Regulations • Assignments, Successors and Assigns The Application to Sponsor, once approved, shall be a binding contract between SIGNALS and the sponsor and their successors and assigns. No sponsor may assign or transfer any rights or obligations under this agreement without the written consent of SIGNALS. No such assignment shall release the exhibitor from its obligations and liabilities under this contract. • Cancelling Sponsorship Sponsors must notify SIGNALS in writing if they wish to cancel or reduce exhibit space. Cancellation notice must be received before January 10, 2015 and a cancellation fee of $100 will be applied. No cancellation will be accepted after January 10, 2015. • Exhibitor Organized Events Events or meetings (ancillary events) may not be scheduled in conflict with the official SIGNALS Banquet program. Please contact SIGNALS organizers for details on availability and how we can best help you meet your needs. • Giveaways and Samples Distribution of giveaways and samples is not permitted under SIGNALS' guidelines. As the exclusive provider, the Lagos Bar and Grill strictly prohibits any and all food, beverage, logo water and other similar items from being brought into the facility without prior authorization.
