Ad Valorem (AV) Duty System • Expensive to administer for the government as well as for importers & traders • Specific Duty (SD) system can do the same job at lower costs
Objectives • Form a taskforce to work on a proposal to reduce wine duty and the replacement of the AV duty system • Take appropriate steps to support the taskforce’s proposal • Reach consensus on the proposal • Relate the message to the government

Actions • Survey on the general public, wine trade, HRI trade & the tourism sector • Study the time/costs spent on the AV duty system by the wine trade and the government • On-going discussions with Legislators & government officials
