  1. Welcome Back!! English II April 8th – 12th

  2. Creative Writing Day! • Think about yourself as a writer. What are you good at (vocabulary, grammar, spelling, being creative, etc.)? What are your weak points? Why do you think they are weak points and how can you overcome them? • Tell what you just thought about yourself to your partner. Be ready to share! • Grab a self-assessment worksheet from the front & fill it out – be honest!

  3. Let’s Get Creative! • Today we are going to work on being better creative writers. We’ll write a story step-by-step, and then help each other edit. • The story you will write is called: “False Charge – A Detailed Account of a Dangerous Situation”

  4. Self - Editing • When the writing time is up, make sure that you review the self-editing checklist to catch your mistakes!

  5. Final Edit • Use your partner’s suggestions to rewrite your paper. Make it great & turn it in!

  6. Daily Grammar Practice – Monday Notes • Write out the sentence and identify parts of speech (noun, verb, adjective, etc.) wally was eager to prove that his dog blue was different from the other hunting dogs

  7. Red Hot Root Words – Unit 7 • Take one of the vocabulary worksheets from the front and review the words with prefixes dia-, and per- with your partner. When you have finished please do the exercises on the back.

  8. Daily Grammar Practice – Tuesday Notes • Write out the sentence and identify it’s parts. wally was eager to prove that his dog blue was different from the other hunting dogs

  9. Red Hot Vocabulary Practice • Use a dictionary to find the meaning of the following words: dialogue permeate dialect permutation dialysis perpendicular diatribe perpetrate • Write the definition (including part of speech) and make a sentence that shows you understand the meaning.

  10. INDEPENDENT READING • Please get the book that you selected for independent reading and read SILENTLY for the next 20 minutes. • When I tell you that time is up, please fill out your worksheet (a summary or your thoughts on what you read – at least 5 sentences NOT copied from the book) and put it in your IR folder.

  11. Do Now…. • For class today you will need the following things: binder (with paper), adapted reader, independent reading book & folder, pen or pencil. • You have 2 minutes to gather these things!

  13. History, Culture, & the Author • Please get the following items: a large blue Holt McDougal book, worksheets 1 & 2 from the front of the room. • Turn to page 934 in the book – we are going to review the Text Analysis Workshop together.

Farewell to Manzanar– Say Something! • With your partner, decide who will say something first. • When you say something, do one or more of the following: Identify an unfamiliar word Make a prediction Ask a question Make a connection Make a comment • If you cannot do one of the above, you need to re-read. • The other person responds to what was said.

  17. Ticket Out • Please write one post it for learned and one for confused & place it on our parking lot on your way out the door. • REMEMBER – “nothing” is not an acceptable answer!
