  2. His Jobs Before His Voyage • Cabot was a mapmaker and a navigator for Italy. • He also worked for King Henry VIII as a cartographer.

  3. His Voyage • Cabot searched for the North west passage across North America employed by Britain. • Cabot began a trip around the world later in Spain ( 1526-1529 ) in a voyage that was supposed to sail to China and the Moluccas.

  4. What He Reached • He only made it as far as the enormous mouth of the Rio de la Plata. ( A river between Argentina and Uruguay in South America ) • After abandoning some of his crew, Cabot explored the Parana River.( from 1526 to 1529 )

  5. He was Banished • Hostile natives and the lack of food forced him to return to Spain. • His trip was deemed unsuccessful, and he was banished from Spain to Africa for two years.(this punishment was later changed to a single year of banishment.)

  6. His Jobs After His Voyage • Around 1553, Cabot began to work for the English again searching for a water passage across the north of Asia. • Cabot sailed to the White Sea Coffs the Barents Sea in north western Russia. • The expedition resulted in a successful trade agreement between England and Russia. • Very little is known about Sebastian Cabot’s life because the account he wrote of his journeys has been lost. Only one map that he drew in 1544 still exists.
