  3. Christopher Columbus 1451-1506 Sponsored by: grew up in Italy , funded by Spain Obstacles: no maps fought with Native Americans for there riches Purpose: sail west to reach Asia , spices and gold Achievements : made 3 voyages with several ships settled in central and s. America
