  2. Beginning of life John Cabot was born in Gaeta, Italy, in 1450. He became a Merchant. His birth name was Giovanni Caboto, but he is remembered by the English translation, John Cabot. In 1476, Cabot lived in Venice, Italy, when he was 26 years old. 1450- 1460- 1470- 1480- 1490- 1499.

  3. Reason for exploring He went exploring, for an opportunity for new trade, his first exploration was in 1496, on his ship Mathew. His last voyage was in 1498.

  4. Sponsor His sponsoring nation was England. King Henry VII gave Cabot permission to go exploring.

  5. What he did He opened a new way for English settlers to North America. His route.

  6. death He died shortly after his last voyage, in 1499. Nobody knows how he died or the exact date.

  7. Fun facts! He had a son, Sebastian Cabot. Nobody knew how or when he died. The king of England when he was born was Henry VI, he was king from 1422-1461. the ruler that most likely gave Cabot permission was Henry VII, from 1485-1509.
