The structure of ourorganisation • DCHOO is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation • The organizer of the Diocese is Bishop Frantisek Václav Lobkowicz • DCHOO is a part of CaritasCZ • The Coexistence Village is a complex social project and one of the organizational centers of DCHOO (Diocesan CharitasOstrava & Opava)
Coexistence Village project • This unique project should support understanding between the Gypsies (the Roma) and the rest of the society. • The first impulse to create the Coexistence Village was the flash flood of 1997 in Ostrava. • The project was started by civic association of Life Together. • Focus not only on housing issues, but on all the needs of the people. • In 2010 Horizont center was founded as a new social activation center in the social exclusion area of Ostrava – Kunčičky.
Target groups: • Children and teenagers aged 3 to 18 influenced by inadequate social and family conditions • Ethnic minorities • People facing personal crisis • People living in socially excluded communities • The elderly • The unemployed • People whose way of life is risky or may become risky • Families with children • Families without a permanent home

Themaingoalofourwork: • Provide advice, information, assistance and support to people in difficult life situations • Help people with low social acceptance • Support families, children, and adults in improving their skills and abilities • Offer of safe and stimulating environment with a lot of free time activities for children • Motivate people to change their way of life • Activate isolated elderly people to re-enter the society • Eliminate the generation gap by joint activities of the young and the elderly
