  6. Problems • Data duplication • Reduced accuracy • Duplication of effort • No clear way to link differing data • No accepted ‘truth’ • No way to track changes in data over time

Instructions • In the same groups, attempt to show how you may improve the way you use reporting systems to ensure that the data you use is consistent and timely • Using the blank shapes, think about new parts of the reporting architecture that may improve the situation • Think about how you can improve accuracy, establish the link between different data and track data changes over time

Advantages • Encourages confidence in the data and acceptance of terminology • Establishes link from operational data all the way to strategic reports • Reduces effort needed to find information • More simple approach to ensuring that the right people can see the right data • Eventually established the reporting system as a key collaboration tool

  10. Conclusions • Adoption of varying operational systems can lead to uncontrolled and organic growth in reporting systems • Eventually, this is counter-productive and leads to lack of data accuracy, lack of trust in the data and significant lost time • By adopting and enforcing a single reporting architecture, you can safeguard your data and extract greatest value from it
