If you need to walk your child into the building, you must get a visitor’s badge from the front office. • After 7:40, students are tardy and will need to be walked into the office by a parent or guardian to be signed in. • Dismissal is at 2:40 p.m. the office will not page for your child from class if there are a few minutes left, prior to dismissal.

  4. General Information • Our main concern is the safety of all. • please make sure to park in the correct areas after school, use crosswalks, and don’t get off your vehicle if you are in the pickup line. • post signs on dashboard so we can get your child to you as quickly as possible.

  5. Transportation • Teachers need to be notified in writing if there is a change in the way your child is going home. (Please do not email the change – call the office or send a note.) • If there is not a note from a parent, the child will go home in the manner indicated on the Student Transportation Form.

  6. Student Absences When your child is absent, you must send a note the following school day. • It must be a signed note from you or a doctor (emails are no longer accepted). • If a note is not provided, the absence will be recorded as an unexcused absence.

  7. AVID (blue)folder • AVID is a school-wide program, which teaches college readiness in all students. • Our goal in kindergarten is “organization,” which is one of the factors we focus on in avid. • Our avid folders are sent home daily, and we ask that you check it daily. • it will have your child’s data collected throughout the year, so you can see what you can focus on at home. • Please do not remove any information from the brads.

  8. Homework • folders will be sent home each Monday afternoon and must be returned each Friday morning. • Homework will be given with instructions, and it is very important for you to assist your child. Try to do small amounts of homework each night. Please read to your child at least 20 minutes each evening.

  9. Library • Library–We visit the library weekly, and our day is Thursday. Make sure your child returns his/her library book or he/she can’t check out a new one.

  10. computer lab & Internet Use • Students will have the opportunity to visit the computer lab each week as well as work on computers in the classroom. • We would like each student to be able to visit specified kid friendly websites (accessed through our intranet) in order to enhance many academic skills. • They will also be taking assessments online, and we need to have parent approval to be on the internet. If you denied access, we cannot assess them. • all sites are highly monitored by teachers.

  11. School-wide • School Celebrations • We will have two school-wide celebrations: Winter Holiday and Valentine’s day. Room representatives will work with the PTA to coordinate activities, food, and games for the celebrations. • birthdays • you may send store-bought snacks and napkins. (No whole cakes and no peanuts!) you can drop off in the office or you student can bring it into the classroom. No balloons, hats, or other party items. Celebrations are the last 20 minutes of the day.

  12.
