LLNL activities relevant to collaboration with the FSC • OFES FI concept exploration ( GA, UC Davis/Ohio State , Princeton) • OFES ignition target design ( Partly directed to FI targets ) • Expt. collaborations RAL, ILE Osaka ,LULI, LLE • Collaboration in GA /ILE/LLE FI hydro study in Omega NLUF program • LDRD Short Pulse Science and Technology Initiative • - Science R&D for HED science at NIF • -Technology R&D and project for short pulse at NIF • -JISP upgrade of Janus and JanUSP • -Campaign experiments at RAL Vulcan • -LSP , ZoharB - short pulse modeling - development and expt links • -Several LDRD HED science projects including • -New FY05 LDRD to develop science base for FI experiments at NIF • (with UCSD , Reno, UC Davis ,/OSU,GA )

Outline expected FI experiments through FY05 • JanUSP technique development expt ( current ) • RAL PW laser campaign( part FI related ) (Nov/Dec2004) • -several HEDP themes not FI (related) • -Proton heating • -Electron transport ( cones and slabs ) • Norreys bilateral FI expt RAL PW( details TBD) Feb 2005 • ILE Bilateral expts( 2004/2005 TBD ) • Ist JanISP expt ( Aug 2005?) details TBD • JanUSP expts in 2005? Bidding process TBD • Planning of expts typically a six month process • Instrument synergy benefits in multi- purpose campaigns
