How Many Comings Of Jesus Are There? • Coming into His World, Bethlehem – Mic. 5:2 • Coming to Egypt, Nazareth – Mat. 2:15, 23 • Coming to teach the Jews – John 1:11 • Coming into Jerusalem – Zech 9:9 • Coming into His Kingdom – Mat. 10:23; Mat. 16:28 – Luke 19:12 • Coming to Galilee – Mt. 26:32 • Are these the comings that are more important to us? • Are these the “coming” that we are going to talk about this morning?

All of these are part of His First Coming unto • Man in Reference to Our Sins. • There is only one Second Coming • Coming to the world for the Resurrection and Judgement Rom 2:14-16 – 14 for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, 15 who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) 16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel. • There is a day Christ is going to Judge man – All men.

All of these are part of His First Coming unto • Man in Reference to Our Sin. • There is only one Second Coming • Coming to the world for the Resurrection and Judgement 2 Tim. 4:1 – I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: - Alive & dead. Dan. 12:1-2 –“At that time Michael shall stand up, The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; And there shall be a time of trouble, Such as never was since there was a nation, Evento that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, Every one who is found written in the book. 2And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt.

All of these are part of His First Coming unto • Man in Reference to Our Sin. • There is only one Second Coming • Coming to the world for the Resurrection and Judgement Jn. 6:40 – And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” Heb9:27-28 – And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, 28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. His Second Appearing will be for salvation unto Christians. This is what differentiates it from His First coming unto man.

  16. When is or was the Second Coming of Jesus? • Did Jesus Come the Second Time in 70 AD? • Aim to demonstrate that the second coming of Christ in 70 AD is a false belief. • Aim to demonstrate that the second coming is a future coming. • Aim to demonstrate that the second coming is a final coming. • Aim to clarify meaning of various misunderstood passages.

  17. Men Knows Not the Day or the Hour! • Mt. 24:42-44 – Alone on Mt. Olives with Peter, Andrew, James, John. • Mat 25:13 – “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.– (10 virgins) • Luke 12:39-40 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 40 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” • Different time frame and location and to crowds of people this time.

  18. Men Knows Not the Day or the Hour! • I Thess. 5:1-10 – Acknowledgement you may be dead when He comes. • Mixed Audience! • Rev 16:15 – ( “Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”.) • – Garments – deeds

Why I Believe In His Second Coming Then? • Christ’s Second Coming Will Occur in a Specific Way • A Return in the Clouds Acts 1:9-11 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” • It is my belief that there is not a single passage speaking of the son of man coming in the clouds which is a reference to 70 AD.

  20. Why I Believe In His Second Coming Then? • Christ’s Second Coming Will Occur in a Specific Way • A Return in the Clouds Matthew 26:64Jesus said to him, “It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.” • Audience is Sanhedrin – Phrase: “I say unto you”

Why I Believe In His Second Coming Then? • Christ’s Second Coming Will Occur in a Specific Way • There will be a falling away before the Second Coming of Christ 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sinis revealed, the son of perdition,

Why I Believe In His Second Coming Then? • Christ’s Second Coming Will Occur in a Specific Way • There will be a falling away before the Second Coming of Christ • A Falling away in which wickedness once again fills the earth. (as is happening right now, right?) • Are we closer to it? Of course, but also see the direct rejection of Christ in the World. • NOTE: This message is of Christ coming and a resurrection is being given to a mixed audience of people far from Jerusalem. • People are blaspheming against Christ, people are being des-fellowship from the church, people ran away from God and His Word, this is the falling away!

Why I Believe In His Second Coming Then? • Christ’s Second Coming Will Occur in a Specific Way • All Eyes Will See The Second Coming Of Christ 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words. Revelation 1:7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen. Matthew 24:30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Why I Believe In His Second Coming Then? • Christ’s Second Coming Will Occur in a Specific Way • The World Shall Come To An End! 2 Peter 3:10-12 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.11Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Revelation 20:11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.

  27. Why I Believe In His Second Coming Then? • Christ’s Second Coming Will Occur in a Specific Way • Christ Shall Judge The World! Romans 14:11-12 For it is written: “As I live, says the Lord, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God.”12So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. Jude 14 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, Matthew 16:27 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works. Matthew 13:49-50 So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just, 50 and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”

Why I Believe In His Second Coming Then? • Christ is coming again! • Many reasons have been given as to why I believe! • We have seen the coming is characterized by: • An unknown time of coming • A falling away from the Gospel • Christ Raising the Dead • All Eyes seeing Christ • The World Coming to an End • A Final Judgment

The Question is - Are you ready? • This series on “Why I believe” has been given so that you can build your faith more and more and know how to answer others. • If you are of an accountable age, you have heard this series, and aren’t baptized yet…. • You need to sit down and ask yourself why. • We have seen fulfillment of prophecy. • We have seen unmatched love and concern for your soul • We have seen what the consequences will be if you choose to ignore the gift Christ has given you in His Blood. • Are you ready for an eternity of punishment? • Or are you striving for an eternity with your Savior? • The choice is yours…..!
