Indo-Chinese Tiger • In 2010, the bell for endangerment sounded when these tigers counted only up to less than 70 tigers. • Today, there are about 350 tigers within a few countries, such as Thailand, Cambodia, China, etc. • Causes for rapid decline is due to the destruction of habitat and poaching. • Some solutions are Laws made to protect the tigers from poaching and the reservation of the rain forests in which they live in. • The tiger is responsible for keeping other animals from overpopulation, such as deer and bears.
Ganges River Dolphins • The Ganges river dolphins live in a very populated place- The Ganges River. The people of India often seek out the river for religious purposes and sometimes even for Fishing and oiling business. • Today there are about 1,200-1,800 left within the river and for a species, this is considered endangered. • Causes for being Endangered is Fishing (Getting caught in the nets) And pollution of the water, along with hunting of the dolphins for their Oil and meat. • Some Solutions created could be the dumping of pollutants elsewhere and the stop of poaching and being more careful with catching fish and letting go of the dolphins. • The dolphin is important because it is a reliable indicator of the health of the entire ecosystem.
Sei Whale • One of the fastest whales in the world, they live within the oceans Near south America and Africa. People who go whale poaching often search for these types of whales for various purposes. • Today there are about below the 2000 mark, which is low. • The poaching of Sei whale was officially halted in 1985 (Commercially) But the whales are often killed for scientific reason by some countries such as Japan. They are also threated by Climate Change and pollution, shipping strikes and caught within fishing nets. • Some solutions can be Poaching laws, less pollution, and cutting of the nets when a whale gets caught. • The whale is important because They are top of the food chain and keep order within the ocean ecosystem.
Snow Leopard • Living in the most freezing condtions in the world, the snow leopard belongs to the cat family and for years this leopard was the king of the mountain. • Being highly elusive, they are an uncounted number but by estimate, there are 6590 left in the wild. • Hunting, habitat Loss, and retaliatory killings are the main reasons this cat is listed as an endangered species. • Some solutions can be hunting laws, reservation of habitat, and anti-poaching laws. • The Snow Leopard is important because they are top predators and their presence is an important indicator of the health of their environment.
Saola • Better known as the Asian Unicorn, little is know about this rarely seen animal and is found in evergreen forests and is thought to be very vulnerable. • It’s rarity and and unknown size of the population makes it very hard for scientists to actually be sure of anything but, it is thought that there is a few hundred or a few dozen left in the wild. • Habitat loss and hunting are the 2 main reasons as to why the Saola is almost gone. • Some solutions can be the reservation of habitat and anti-hunting/poaching laws. • The reason why the Saola is so important is because it is really on the brink of disappearing and scientists are really working hard to save this species.
Summary • The world is filled with diverse animals of many kinds and each creature is special and needed within it’s environment to keep a balanced ecosystem. If we were to take away the animals that support us, we would also eventually destroy ourselves in the end, because we need them more than they need us. Today, there are a list of animals that grow endangered everyday and although there are organizations that help protect these rare animals, its not enough. We need everyone around us to help stop the destruction of these animals and if many people were to give even a little hand, The list would probably decrease by half.
