THE STATISTICAL SYSTEM IN AFGHANISTAN • Department of Statistics, Afghanistan (DOSA), the main government agency entrusted with the responsibility to collect, interpret and disseminate statistics. • A centralised system, with DOSA as central agency, while other agencies provide statistics specific to their needs. • Special and heavy demand placed on the system to provide timely and current information to monitor economic performance as well as social development of the country.
ORGANISATION OF THE AFGHANISTAN STATISTICAL SYSTEM • The Department of Statistics, Afghanistan is placed under President of Afghanistan Government. • The Chief Statistician is the head of the national statistical service.
