News from Mrs. Weaver Important Notes August Transportation: If your student’s transportation changes let me know, PLEASE. You can e-mail me, call me, or just send a note with your child, I always check to see if there is mail each morning. Snacks: It is up to you to send your child with a snack each morning. Birthdays: I will send home a note a week before your child’s birthday with information on what you can send for their special day! Star of the Day ! For the next 6 weeks we are doing the STAR of the day. You will get a note home a week before their day explaining what to do. This is your child’s chance to tell all his/her new friends who they are. Please put pictures, drawings, stickers, etc. whatever your child wants that describes them. Please limit the pictures to 10. On that day, please bring a special treat for the class (about 22) and remember we are PEANUT FREE. This is also your time to come on in to our classroom, if your or a grandparent are able to come in and help your child as they describe their poster, that would be wonderful!! (If you need white poster board let me know) Occasionally we need help with special supplies for class projects. I usually make a rotation schedule about who I ask. So if you receive a note to donate a specific supply, please know that we really need the help. Thanks for the understanding! Also, we are always looking for simple house hold items to use in our classroom. For example, if you have any cookie cutters, beads, buttons, film canisters, storage containers, etc. we would be more then welcome to take them off your hands. We will also be doing different projects with magazines, so if you have an old “school” appropriate magazines or even Zoobook magazines, etc., we would gladly take care of them for you . Usually we can recycle anything!

This is a great way to add to your home library and also help out our classroom! *Book Orders are due: Friday, Sept. 13th Water Bottles: After some trial and error I would like each student to bring their own water bottle to school. These will stay at the school on their desks to decrease the amount of movement in and out of the room! Please send ASAP. Monthly Calendars Every month I am going to send out a calendar with our ‘specials’ for each day and any other important dates you may need to know. Whenever you see P.E., it is your job to make sure that your child has the appropriate shoes to wear. Our specials include guidance, computer, extension (extra classroom time), music, library, P.E., and art. This month and next month you will find a name on each day. We will be learning measurement with gingerbread men, writing about Christmas tree decorations, and new sight words through Christmas stories. This month is a quick month but we will be sure to load it with fun and learning! We are currently working as a class on earning a Pizza and P.J. Party. We just had a Movie and Ice Cream party because we earned enough marbles through respectful choices on the carpet. Each child now has chosen their own carpet spot so that we can learn how to self-control and be responsible for the place they chose. I am confident that they will learn to take ownership and responsibility for their choices! The 12 B’s of Christmas! This month we will be working, as a school, on our 3 B’s. We are calling it the 12 B’s of Christmas. Children who are making a good choice according to our 3 B’s in the hallway will earn a “B card”. After they earn 12, Santa (Mr. Soriano) will come and visit them with a special treat! We are excited to work as a class to achieve our goal for each student!
