Monday—grammar Commas Rule 1: Use a comma with a conjunction between two independent clauses. Rule 2: Use a comma after a dependent clause if it comes before an independent clause. Rule 3: Use a comma after an adverbial phrase if it’s at the beginning of the sentence.
