Classroom routine • Prompt to copy homework • Complete warm-up • During warm-up, homework is checked for completion • We go over the warm-up • Address any homework questions • Introduce/practice/apply new concepts
Homework • Homeworkmay beassigned daily • Practice/reinforcement of that day’s concept or preview an upcoming concept • Yes, students should check answers when available • After thefirst quarter, during which students will get half credit, LATE homework will be marked complete but receive a zero • students may redo HW for more points if they do not show work, write in pencil, etc…
Materials • Pencil, only, for all math work • Notebook should go back and forth daily and homework should be in the notebook • Agenda book • Things for home: • Scientific calculator • Ruler, protractor, compass, graph paper
Calculator use • If calculators were used in class, they are allowed on homework • Students would benefit most from a scientific calculator at home… • Squares & square roots, parentheses • Fractions • Personal calculators DO NOT need to be brought to class
Assessment • No quarterly assessments this year. • Quizzes periodically and unit tests at the end of each unit. • MSA in March – covers grade level curriculum • Skills checks: 2-5 points, 2 or 3 questions to assess mastery of daily content
Absence/Make-up/Missing Work • Check my website • Student should see me upon return, check class folder on bulletin board • Students have the same number of days as they were out to make up missed work for full credit • I will plan a make-up day every couple of weeks to allow students to “catch-up” due to absences and pull outs and complete activities they might have missed
