Al-Amirat field visit 20/3/2011
Introduction • Meeting with HE wali Al-Amirat , wali deputy, sheiks , representor from municipality , representer from community and support group. • Meeting was started with a video about the previous experiences during Gono and Phet in al-amirat. • Then , speech by wali and municipality and community group. • Then the discussion was opened for the audients.
Experience during Gono • There was no preparedness plan. • During the cyclone: • Wali office was the coordinator for all agencies. • There were many committees created after the cyclone. • Wali conference room was the store for food and water and gas cylinders. • From this store , the items distributed to the community through volunteers and community groups by municipality and wali office cars.
There were shelters in 3schools. .. Linens were provided by municipality and foods by social affair. • municipality was responsible to create a alternative roads , helping in rescuing people and coordination with other agencies. • Dead bodies: transported to ibn sina then taken by military.
