  10. Reading Guided Reading What is Guided Reading? During the week the children work in groups on various activitieswhich allow them to explore the text we are working on We works with each group once a week on a rota basis. This is an opportunity for us to give individual help and to assess each child's progress and needs.

  11. Reading Record • Reading Regularly— Fit reading into your daily routine. It could be before you go to sleep, in the car or before you have your tea. • 10 minutes of reading each day makes a huge difference to your reading and writing progress. • Reading Books—You are responsible for changing your book. This can be completed any morning as you come into school.

  12. Reading Record • Reading Records— When you read at home sign your reading record and write a quick review when you finish your book. Ask your parents/ carers at least once a week to listen to you and sign your diary. • Each Friday your teacher will check your diary. • Children who have not read regularly that week will read with Mr McDonald in his lunchtime reading club.

  13. Reading Prizes • Reading Raffle—Each FRIDAYyour teacher will collect your diary. If they have been signed by an adult you will get a raffle ticket. At the end of each half term there will be a draw, and the winner can choose a book to keep. • Reading Challenges— Each half term Mr Kirrane will be setting a reading challenge.
