Where is the evidence? • Utilizing Biennial Reports in the review of the Common Standards
Responsibility for understanding the Common Standards • Each team member MUST be conversant with all 9 Common Standards • Common Standards Glossary MUST be consulted Italicized Standards plus Glossary
Electronic resources • Flash Drive will have an electronic copy of the standards and sample reports. • CTC Consultant is the resource on interpretation of standards. • If need a paper copy, let your consultant know
Common Standards Writing Guidance 2-3 sentences for each portion of the standard Text should address the language of the standard AND the evidence collected during the visit Format for Common Standard Portion of the Report Common Standards Report
How to Allocate Writing Responsibilities • Review the number of team members focusing on the Common Standards • Agree upon the focus standards—primary and secondary—group like standards • Utilize Program Standards team members to collect information and if necessary—to assist in writing response Possible standard assignments
Issues that rise from programs—consult with the team members focusing on PROGRAMS • Assessment and Evaluation System (2) • Faculty and Instructional Personnel (4) • Admission (5) • Field Experience (7) • District-Employed Supervisors (8) • Assessment of Candidate Competence (9)
Issues of institutional capacity—Common Standards team members probe although program team members can provide key information • Educational Leadership (1) • Assessment and Evaluation System (2) • Resources (3) • Faculty and Instructional Personnel (4) • Admission (5) • Advice and Assistance (6)
Bringing data together—from multiple sources and programs into the Common Standards • Does the team’s concern rise to the level of a Common Standard? • What is the concern? Where is the evidence?
When is an issue a Common Standard issue? • If an issue is observed in one program, is it a Common Standard issue? • If an issue is observed in over half the programs AND the issue is present in the program standards—where does the team cite the concern?
Utilizing Biennial Reports in the review of the Common Standards • Especially appropriate for Common Standards 2 and 9 • Review the Biennial Report submitted by the institution • Review the CTC response to the institution
