  5. Classroom Rules • Raise hand and wait to be recognized. • Listen and follow directions the first time given. • Be prompt, prepared and organized every day. • Use time wisely. • Show respect by keeping hands, feet, objects and hurtful comments to yourself.

  13. Procedures: First things first! Entering the Classroom: • 1. Always enter the classroom quietly. • 2. Move your popsicle stick to boy or girl can. • 3. Sit down quietly and check the front board for instructions.

  14. Procedures: morning work • Check the whiteboard for instructions • Quietly unpack your backpack • Quietly visit the ‘paper buffet’ • Quietly begin morning work • Drop items in teacher INBOX if necessary.

  15. Paper Buffet: • All handouts we will need for the day will be on the back table. • After unpacking, visit the table quietly: • Do not talk • Do not disturb your classmates

  16. Paper Buffet: • Going from ‘start’ to ‘finish’ get one of each handout: • Stack the papers in order • Place the papers in your class work folder • Begin work on the designated handout

  29. Finishing Class Work Early • If you see an * next to the assignment on the board: • Turn it in to your folder • If there is no * • place it in your class work folder • Check ‘To Do’ list on board • READ READ ME!!

  32. Visiting the computer station • Reasons to visit the computer station: • AR tests: if you have completed all ‘to do’ items you may ask me to take a test. • We will use the computer for some projects, assignments, and center activities.

Visiting the computer station: Rules and Procedures • Treat the equipment with care and respect. • Do not abuse the computer equipment in any way or you will loose your computer privileges in the classroom. • Follow procedures for going to the station. • Follow procedures for completing work at the computer station.

  40. Bathroom Rules: • No horseplay • Zone One: • You may whisper, ONLY whisper! • Be quick • If you can not multitask while talking, do not talk at all! • Bathroom monitor • Regulates how many people in bathroom at a time • Reports to the teacher

  42. Turning in work for a grade • You will know what needs to be turned in by looking at the board. • If there is a star * next to the assignment you will turn it in to your individual file when you finish.

  43. Group Work • What happens in group stays in group • Show respect to teammates by listening and being kind • Always do YOUR best and participate • You will always have a job • You will always be held accountable for your job and your contribution to the group

  45. Individual Work • Heading your paper • You will always have your name, number, and date at the top right-hand side of ALL papers. • Remember to follow directions • Remember to always be neat

  46. Taking Tests • Use offices if directed • Study and do well • Don’t Panic • Go on to the next question • Take a deep breath • Visualize the page in the book • Remember vocabulary movements • What did you do in groups or in lab?

  47. Graded Papers/Wednesday Folders • Review graded papers • Return the folder to me • Every Wednesday you will take the folder home • Review papers with parents • Parents sign and leave comments for teacher • Return only the papers marked ‘return to school’ • Return by FRIDAY

  48. Homework/packing-up • Homework will be displayed on the side white board. • Write down assignments in your agenda • Copy exactly as written on board • Highlight yellow for textbook • Circle in red pen for workbook

  49. Homework/packing-up • Ask your neighbor to check your bag • Finally Mrs. Grow will initial your agenda • Move your popsicle stick back to start position • If end-of-day privilege was earned, talk to your neighbor at a Zone 2

  50. End-of-the Day Privilege • Talk! • Stay in your seat • Talk to your classmates at a Zone 2 • Loss of Privilege • Is at the teacher’s discretion
