What is a Progress File? • A progress file charts the progress of an individual. The overall concept involves: • The institutional transcript • Personal record of learning and achievement • Personal development plan
What is PDP? • QAA: • ‘structured and supported process undertaken by an individual • to reflect upon their own learning performance and/or achievement, and • to plan for their personal, educational and career development.’
Opportunities for practising PDP within and outside the HE curriculum Process for recording learning and achievement, and guidance systems to support PDP Personal Development Planning Reflective process to improve own learning Personal Development Records Information owned by student Transcript Information owned by the institution Creative use of information and the skills that underlie PDP by students. Strategy for developing PDP • Since many LSBU awards are vocationally focussed the curricula often already address employability directly or indirectly. • Map existing syllabus activities • Address gaps • Embed across the curricula
