Welcome! This is a quick introduction to the new Law e-book… which has been developed by the WJEC to accompany and support the teaching of the new A/AS specification.
Background • The e-book has been written by practising teachers • General introductions are given to all parts of the specification • Suggested lesson plans, and Power Point presentations are offered to assist with teaching, as well as other resources • Can be used with all existing interactive white board technology • Will be constantly updated with the latest information
How does it look? The e-book mirrors an actual book, and includes pages within chapters.
Chapter tabs Page tabs Chapter and page tabs It is very easy to navigate through the e-book using the chapter and page tabs. Page tab colours reflect the colour of the specific chapter tab to ensure the user knows what part of the e-book is being accessed.
Text size can be increased/decreased as needed. Text and/or background colour can be changed. Accessibility A global search facility is available to get you to the information you want.
Introduction pages You can scroll through the information on all pages which gives an outline of the course. There are links to specific resources such as the most recent copies of the specification, example assessment materials and teachers’ guide that will help you with managing the course.
Pages within a chapter All pages within chapters reference the specification. Background Information is given on all topics. Suggested lesson plans and other helpful Word files are available to download and tailor to your needs Power Point presentations are also available to assist with teaching the course.
Example of a lesson plan All lesson plans reference the specification, and give estimated time for teaching the topic. Aims and objectives are given, with key words highlighted. Teacher and pupil activities are given in a structured format.
In addition to the lesson plan... For those who are new to the subject, or are teaching Law outside of their specialised subject, sets of questions to ask students, and expected answers are also included.
PowerPoint colours reflect the chapter tab colour, and will assist you in your teaching.
All lesson plans and presentations can also be easily accessed from the resources chapter.
Talking Heads Some pages of the book include an animated ‘Talking Head’, which at a click of the mouse, will introduce a discussion topic based on that part of the book.
