C. THE PURPOSE OF STUDY: In the end of meeting at least 80% of the students are able to response and express towards transactional and interpersonal conversation about: • Making, accepting and declining invitations • Agreement and disagreement • Giving compliment • Congratulate someone

Here is an example of invitation. Please read carefully the dialogue. • Clara: any way, how is your task? • Suzan: well, I’ve finished it, and how about you? • Clara: yeah, me too. By the way, next week is my birthday. • Suzan: oh, great. • Clara: so, I will have a birthday party. • Suzan: sounds so nice. • Clara: So, would you like to come to my birthday party? • Suzan: alright, my pleasure. • Clara: okay, I’ll be waiting for you.
Expression of invitation: • would you come? • will you join my party? • can you come? • could you join?
Expression of accepting invitation: • sounds good • I will be there • my pleasure • my honor • okay • of course
Expression of declining invitation: • I’m sorry • I’m afraid I can’t • so sorry I have a business • I hope I can come but I have to see my doctor
Here is an example of agreement. Read carefully the dialogue below. • Anny: by the way, did you watch the movie last night? • Bety: yeah, of course, I love it. • Anny: I agree with you. That movie gives me inspiration. • Bety: well, we’re in the same boat. It was a fantastic movie. • Anny: you’re right. I so much hope that I can watch that movie once again. • Bety: I hope so
Expression of agreement: • I agree with you • we’re in the same boat • you’re right • that’s right • definitely right
Expression of disagreement: • I disagree with you • I don’t think so • I don’t think that’s right • oh really? • do you think so?
Expression of compliment: • wonderful • great • excellent • marvelous • so beautiful • very nice • smart • that’s good
Responding the expression of compliment: • thank you • not really • my honor • the same with you • I’m trying
Expression of Congratulation: • congratulation • well done • good job • it’s perfect
Creating Conversation • Work in pair. • Choose one of four kinds of expression below: 1. Expression of invitation 2. Expression of agreement 3. Expression of compliment 4. Expression of Congratulation • Create a dialog that contains the expression that you have chosen. • Make the dialogue is about 5 minutes. • Act out the dialog in front of the class.
Practice Practice a conversation based on the situation given by your teacher, and then performs it in front of the class. (1 class = 30 students divided into 15 groups. 1 group perform not more than 5 minutes) Situation: • You want to invite your friend to your birthday party. • You disagree with your friend’s opinion about the last quiz. • Your friend invites you to her party. You can’t come. • Your sister bought a new dress. She looks beautiful on it. • You want to congratulate your father for his promotion.
