BLIP operations 06-28-11 Status – running at 117.5MeV Beam time on target returned to a healthy 164.4 hours. BLIP weekly average beam current dropped to 93.5µA by design for target survival. Total luminosity has passed 413,000µAh, a new record. Isotope production of Sr-82 has ceased. Increased production of Ge-68 continued . Shut down scheduled for 4PM June 30, unless LANL shutdown is projected to be lengthy. No decision as yet. Operations issues Loss of 2 days of beam on target has reduced Sr-82 yield in the very last run that ended June 20. The projected amount will not meet demand in July and there is no time to make up the loss. LANL was to make up the difference with a delivery to BNL today, but the forest fire has prevented this until next week at the earliest. This would still allow us to process their Sr-82 and meet demand. Two short FRIB irradiations completed last week.
