Evaluation Question 7

Reflecting on the progression from my preliminary task to my full product, I have learned the importance of thorough planning and extensive research. I listened to feedback, created detailed flat plans, and conducted in-depth analysis. Additionally, I researched the genre, popular music, and target audience preferences. The improved planning, time management, and Photoshop skills have greatly benefited my final task.

  1. Evaluation Question 7 Looking back at your preliminary task what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

  2. Planning • For my final task I put a lot more thought into my planning than I did for my preliminary task. This is because with my preliminary task if I did something wrong I had time to fix it before my final task whereas I felt everything needed to be perfect for my final task. I listened to the feedback I received on my preliminary task and made sure I fixed that for my final task. I completed flat plans for my front cover, contents page and double page spread. Also a lot more planning went into my photos whereas last time it was more of a shoot and go.

  3. Research • For my final task I made sure I conducted a lot more research than I did for the preliminary task. I completed a lot more analysis of covers, contents pages and double page spreads. This helped me to gain ideas for my final task and look at the use of colour and fonts and what I felt would work for my magazine. I also researched which genre of music was popular and what magazines where already on the market for that genre.

  4. Research • I also researched into the genre. I looked at the type of music that was in that genre and what was popular at the moment. I also looked at artists that were popular and who my target audience were interested in. This helped my make the decision of what to feature in my magazine.

  5. Other features • I felt that with my final task I was more efficient and up for the task as it interested me more. I felt that my time management was much improved from my preliminary task. I took my pictures earlier so I had more time to focus on the creation of my magazine, which was more important.

  8. Improvement of skills? • My Photoshop skills have improved greatly since the preliminary task. I can now change the brightness of my images and can add layers to what I am editing. I gained the knowledge to do this through tutorials on the internet. I feel that this has benefited my final task because it has improved my image quality and the pages on the whole.
