Last practice… tell whether each sentence is correct or incorrect. • She and her friends was at the fair last night. • INCORRECT: She and her friends were at the fair last night. • All of the people who listen to Justin Bieber are cool. • CORRECT • There is many questions about Gatsby, but we’ll clear it up. • INCORRECT: There are many questions about Gatsby, but we’ll clear it up. • All of the books, including John’s, is in that box. • INCORRECT: All of the books, including John’s, are in that box.

  3. Tip of the day: • Correct or incorrect? Though Daisy is conflicted about whether to be with Gatsby or Tom, she doesn’t want to have to choose. • Incorrect: does not (instead of doesn’t) • Correct or incorrect? I did not know weather I should buy snow boots or a new coat. • Incorrect: whether, not weather. • Tip #11: Weary= tired, wary = cautious • *Think: “weary” has the word “wear” in it, and you can “wear down” or become tired. • After I stayed up until 2 AM to finish Ms. Stitt’s homework, I was so weary and just wanted to go to bed! • I was wary about that black cat sitting outside my window- I didn’t want bad luck.

What do we learn about her from this? • How does Daisy treat her daughter? What do we learn about Daisy from this? • What does Tom realize in this chapter?
