Developing a City Brand Strategy • Conducted range of research studies on residents, local and non-local corporations, site selection firms, media and consumers (Fall 2007) • Recommendations for strategic brand message and preliminary strategy to be delivered to city management • City branding strategy defines points of positive differentiation for resident, corporate and visitor dollars (Spring 2008)
Targeted Economic Development Initiatives • Successfully implementing Chamber/ED 2007-08 work plan (business recruitment/retention, infrastructure) • Chamber assisting with lobbying effort for regional rail expansion-taxing amendments by local option in 2009 legislative session • Irving leading efforts with neighboring cities in establishing a North-South (BNSF) Rail Line connecting South Irving with Frisco • Target Industry Study underway by UNT Center of ED & Research (January 2008); Final plan complete (June 2008)
Capitalizing on TOD Opportunities • Completed Transit Oriented Development marketing collateral including brochure • Website launched and accessible at www.irvingtod.com • Appointed TOD Administrator (Brenda McDonald) in January 2008
Redeveloping Texas Stadium • Entered into exclusive negotiations with Forest City to create a detailed development agreement • Forest City Enterprises proposal to City Council for formal consideration (Spring 2008)
Las Colinas Partnerships • Water Street • TIF awards approved by Board and City Council • (December 2007) • City Council approval of development and parking lease agreements (Spring 2008) • Las Colinas Station • TIF Board and City Council to receive formal proposal (Spring 2008)
Redevelopment Initiatives • Approved an agreement with McDougal to redevelop downtown Irving • Demolished Villa Martinique Apartments to make way for new development • Plymouth Park retail area • Marketing/redevelopment study will be addressed through the Irving Boulevard Enhancement Study • EDAW selected as consultant in January 2008
Creating a Regional Activity District and Entertainment Center • Obtained resident approval on hotel, parking and ticket taxes for proposed entertainment venue in conjunction with the convention center • Preliminary strategy outlined and adopted as part of 2007-08 ICVB Budget and Marketing plan • CVB business incentive programs have been updated in conjunction with Entertainment District and Convention Center Complex

Creating New Retail & ED Marketing Initiatives • Las Colinas Supplement published and distributed in Dallas Business Journal (October 2007) • Co-hosted Dallas Business Journal’s Book of Lists Party (January 2008) • Direct mail campaign to targeted site selectors & commercial real estate brokers within national target markets • Economic incentive plan to be addressed in conjunction with EDAW Irving Boulevard study. Three local corporate executives have been identified to assist with corridor study.
Developing Small Business Incentives • Business Incubator • Economic Development Advisory Council sub-team developing proposal for concept • One-stop Business Service Support and Assistance Center • Development has begun with North Lake College • Project completion projected for January 2009
Developing Incentives for Business Retention • Council adopted an incentive program to promote expansion of small business • Facade Grant Funds • Allocated for targeted improvement area of South Irving (intersection Shady Grove and MacArthur) • Corridor Streetscape Enhancement Program • Completed architectural drawings focusing on four properties at Shady Grove and MacArthur • Respective property owners have agreed to proposed improvements
