Bagan is an ancient city in Myanmar, located in Upper Burma on the bend of the Irrawaddy River. It leas 290 km to the southwest of Mandalay. It is distinguished not only by the number of religious buildings, but also by their beautiful architecture and contribution to Burmese temple design.   6. Bagan is an ancient city in Myanmar, located in Upper Burma on the bend of the Irrawaddy River. It leas 290 km to the southwest of Mandalay. It is distinguished not only by the number of religious buildings, but also by their beautiful architecture and contribution to Burmese temple design. From the 9th to the 13th century, Bagan was the capital of the Kingdom of Bagan. During the heyday of the kingdom between the 11th and 13th centuries, more than 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and monasteries were built around the city on an area of approximately 100 km2. Due to frequent earthquakes and weather conditions, most of them gradually fell into disrepair. To date, there are about 2,200 left. The Bagan Archaeological Zone is a major attraction for the nascent tourism industry in Myanmar. In 2019, Bagan was officially inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Bagan es una ciudad antigua en Myanmar, ubicada en la Alta Birmania en la curva del río Irrawaddy. Se encuentra a 290 km al suroeste de Mandalay. Se distingue no solo por la cantidad de edificios religiosos, sino también por su hermosa arquitectura y su contribución al diseño del templo birmano. Desde el siglo IX al XIII, Bagan fue la capital del Reino de Bagan. Vyniká nielen množstvom náboženských budov, ale aj ich nádhernou architektúrou a prínosom k barmskému chrámovému dizajnu. Od 9. do 13. storočia bol Bagan hlavným mestom Baganského kráľovstva. V období rozkvetu kráľovstva medzi 11. a 13. storočím bolo v okolí mesta na ploche približne 100 km2 postavených viac ako 10 000 budhistických chrámov, pagod a kláštorov. Vďaka častým zemetraseniam a poveternostným podmienkam väčšina z nich postupne schátrala. Do dnes ich zostalo okolo 2200. Archeologická zóna Bagan je hlavnou atrakciou pre rodiaci sa turistický priemysel v Mjanmarsku. V roku 2019 bol Bagan oficiálne zapísaný do zoznamu svetového dedičstva UNESCO.
