What drives the Red Cross? ■ Objective • To pursue the power of humanity by relieving the suffering of vulnerable and protecting people’s lives and dignity ■ Principles - Humanity - Priority - Voluntary Service - Impartiality - Avoiding Dual Assistance
Core Areas • Disaster Preparedness • Lifeguard training for volunteers • Mobilization of amateur radio Team • Obtain a sufficient food stock and set up of warehouse • Strengthen the training course at community level
Disaster Response • Increase the capacity of human resources in disaster recovery operations • Establish a network computerizing the disaster management • Maintain the contact with the related organizations (GO/NGOs/IO, etc)
As an auxiliary body of the government in emergency relief situation, the Red Cross is mobilizing…. • Emergency wireless network (HAM) • FA rescue team • Feeding center • Good security and rationing • Local mobile medical clinic • Psychological support

Central Government • Final Authority in Disaster Relief • Establishing the extent of damage and victims' needs • Take a leading role in relief operations • Set up a disaster recovery plan and its implementation
Local government • Assess the needs of victims on the spot • Provide an emergent assistance to the victims • Report the situation of the affected areas and on-going relief activities • Recruit volunteers • Divide and adjust the role among civil relief organizations as needed
Korean Red Cross • Set up an amateurradio communication network • Run the mobile kitchens for feeding service • Assess the victims and monitor their conditions at shelters • provide relief goods and control the stock • Train volunteer and give the proper task for the operation
Nationwide DR Committee • Fundraising for relief and the collection of donations • Donation of disaster relief goods as requested by the KNRC headquarters • Provision of support, e.g. relief goods and financial assistance; • living expenses, reimbursement of expenses
