  3. Methodology 5 Meetings – Approx. 2 hours each Mtg Redefined objectives by combining and simplifying COM & AAMC objectives and linking them to assessment methods Objectives include knowledge, procedures, communication and altruism, and life long learning

  4. Results Knowledge objectives will be met with: Approx. 55 computer based learning lectures Weekly multi-disciplinary teaching conferences (MDTC) involving case presentations and participation from surgery, GYN, radiology, GI and pathology

  5. MDTC Topics Acute abdomen Trauma Vascular/CT Orthopedics/Plastics GYN/Urology Oncology

  6. Weekly Conferences M&M Conference Grand Rounds Resident Education Conference Professors Hour-Student Presentations Respective Service Conferences

  7. Major Diagnoses

  8. Integrated Longitudinal Curriculum Lectures and/or Computer Based Learning Topics Nutrition End-of-Life Ethics Patient Safety Pain Management Evidence Based Medicine Multi-disciplinary Conferences with radiology, pathology & GI

  9. Problems to be Addressed Need sufficient computer based support Methods of assessment-computer tracking Assistance with CPX Faculty and intra-departmental cooperation with MDTC Ensuring smooth overlap of various blocks Long Term – accommodating increase in size of class

  10. Structure of Clerkship Rotations: General Surgery – 3 weeks OB/GYN – 3 weeks Trauma – 2 weeks Sub-specialty – 1 week

  11. Conclusion Substantial reorganization of current methods of teaching Includes methods of measuring and/or assuring competencies are met Significantly places emphasis on self teaching Potential to enhance education
