Stronghold of Knowledge • the Stronghold of Knowledge will be located in a former ammunition dump on the premises of the Crown Fortalice • historical monument as a tool how to present the innovation • ERDF project CZ.1.05/3.2.00/09.0171 • 2011 – 2014, partners • budget is 150 mil CZK (=6 000 000 EUR) • the Stronghold will attract visitors towards science and the humanities in a playful and entertaining way • laboratories, workshops and studios

  9. Light and Darkness • dominated by the dome of the planetarium • observe the sun, moon and planets • 3D constellations and a revolving map of the heaven • offers a Braille planetarium with a tactile observatory

  10. Water in the Landscape • a water course from its spring to its estuary to the sea • to perceive a river as one of the dominating elements in landscape • understand the connections between a river and a town • for instance by becoming a water animal

Into the Depths of the Human Body • visitors can take a look into the brain and take a walk through the human body's organs • thinking and knowing are the main motif of the exhibition's mathematics section • sight (optical illusions), hearing (acoustics) and motion (leverage) are the themes of the human senses

  12. Optical Illusions • you will see several pictures • your task is to guess • which line or other shape is longer • if the line is straight etc.

Science in the Stronghold • deals with the co-existence of soldiers and the city as a traditional part of life in the City of Olomouc • the army has always had access to the newest scientific and engineering inventions • the exhibition shows developments in architecture, chemistry, medical science, optics and many other fields
