The goal of the Alliance is to reduce the nationwide prevalence of childhood obesity by 2015 and to inspire young people to develop lifelong healthy habits.

There’s a place for everyone at the table We believe that we need multi-faceted solutions and diverse partners to reverse the childhood obesity epidemic – even unlikely partners. Though we welcome everyone to the table, we won’t accept funds from entities with which we are negotiating solutions. Currently, that list includes the beverage, food, and health insurance industries. Micro- and macro-level strategies create the perfect storm We focus on systemic and sustainable approaches that balance science-based practices with innovative strategies. The end goal is to put ourselves out of business We aggressively pursue results and keep score. We’ll be successful when the day comes the notion of childhood obesity in the US seems like a strange and unlikely concept. Societal norms are changed by people, not organizations We are only as successful as the change we inspire in communities, schools, families, and youth. To that end, our story is the stories of local successes in schools, communities, healthcare settings, and among kids themselves. Alliance Values & Principles
