  3. Who are included in AYP? • Students with valid • FCAT scores • Florida Alternate Assessments (FAA)

  4. Who are included? • First-year ELL Students* • Included in participation rate • NOT included • in Reading and Mathematics proficiency rate * Less than 365 calendar days from entry date into ESOL program to first day of testing (FCAT Writing

  22. What is Safe Harbor? • A provision in NCLB that can be applied to subgroups not meeting AYP through the proficiency target.

  23. How is Safe Harbor Calculated? • The percent of non-proficient students is decreased by 10% from the prior year in the subject being evaluated. Example of Calculation:

  25. What is the Growth Model? • A provision in NCLB that can be applied to subgroups not meeting AYP through the proficiency target or Safe Harbor.

  26. Who is included in the GROWTH MODEL? • Grades 4-10 • Students with prior year FCAT Developmental Scale Score (DSS) • Grade 3 • First Time (no DSS available) • Retained
