Guaranteed Ride Home • Give your employees the freedom to use alternative commuting by providing a ride home in an emergency. • This simple safety net can give employees the peace of mind to try an alternative form of transportation.
Invest in Greenways • Adopt-A-Greenway – Volunteer maintenance opportunities for employees • Sponsorship - Invest in a feature such as a picnic shelter or water fountain • Partnerships – Connect your facility to a local park or greenway
Get rid of that grass! Mowing, fertilizing and maintaining a grass area is costly both to the environment and the bottom-line. Consider naturalizing those areas and join the “Wildlife and Industry Together” program through the NC Wildlife Federation
Gardening in the Workplace • Offering opportunities for employees to interact with nature during the workday can reduce stress which can help prevent high blood pressure, tension headaches, and employee illness. • Start small with container gardens or join a local community garden.
Go Smoke Free! • By taking steps toward having a smoke free facility employers can reduce onsite pollution and improve employee health and productivity. • Set employees up for success by offering smoking cessation opportunities before going smoke free.

Healthy Snack and Fruit Basket Program The Mecklenburg County Health Department piloted a program to improve employee access to healthy snacks and fruit during the workday. The response was very positive!
