Tobacco • Tobacco has been used by North American Aboriginal communities http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQyfnekbeH0 • They would use loose tobacco during ceremonies and give it away as gifts • The use of Tobacco has been exploited and ingredients have been modified so the user develops an addiction and constantly feels the need to smoke cigarettes • Tobacco companies have started to move their focus to young people as potential costumers because the quicker you’re addicted the longer you’ll smoke • The average age that youth first start smoking is only 15 years old and by the time they’re 17 they’ve developed an addiction so strong they smoke daily http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1DNoole3Wo
Tobacco • Chewing tobacco is one use of tobacco used not by smoking it but by putting it into your mouth and spitting it out • Example: Base Ball players frequently chew tobacco • You can become addicted to this form of nicotine because the ingredients contain fiber glass which is used to cut the inside of your mouth and allows the nicotine to penetrate your body faster. • Cigarettes are the most common way consumers use tobacco, they inhale the smoke that is caused by lighting one end of the cigarette • Tobacco companies have also released mild flavoured cigarettes they hope will target youth
