Hard Sell Techniques Make a "timeline." Artificial timelines are a mainstay of the hard sell. The sales person or the campaign creates a sense of urgency (ex: This is the Last Item in Stock! Call Today!) to try to get immediate sales.
Hard sell techniques • Introduce a "limited offer." Creating limitations other than time help make a consumer think they are getting a "special opportunity", but that is not always the case.
Hard Sell techniques • Price manipulation. "We'll give you this product, a 100.00 value for ONLY 59.99 • Free add-ins. "If you order now we will throw in an extra snuggie for FREE." • 2 for the price of 1. In most cases items are marked up from original price.
Puffery • When advertisements make products look spectacular. Often times the product does work…just not as well as seen on TV.
