Onboard outcomes from JAXA PCG experiment - Protein crystals grown in JEM Protein Crystallization Research Facility (PCRF).
Canister Canister - Canister is one of PCRF Crystal Growth Cell dedicated to JAXA PCG Experiment. - Function of the Canister is to: - control temperature to keep crystallization condition.(20 degrees Celsius plus or minus 2 degrees) - Counter diffusion method is used for protein crystallization. - Many kinds of protein solutions are in a Canister. or (TBD) Canister Canisters installed in PCRF Cell Tray
JAXA PCG Operations Overview Russian Crewmember Operations NASA/IP Crewmember Operations Ground Operations Prepare Canister(Start Crystallization Process)and launch it by Progress Canister Retrieval from Progress - Retrieve Canister from Progress.- Hand over Canister to NASA/IP Crewmember. Canister Installation - Install Canister into PCRF. PCRF Activation Temperature control (Experiment) PCRF Deactivation Canister Removal - Remove Canister from PCRF.- Hand over Canister to Russian Crewmember. Canister Return by Soyuz - Install Canister into Soyuz.- Return Canister to ground.
