  1. 12 October, 1492 Dearest Family, I’v been sailing since August 3rdon the Pintaship. I’m not having fun here on the ship . The captain is Martin Pinzon. It would be so amazing to see you guys. When we got to land, I saw lots of trees, palm trees. Also the people on the island dress weird, and some of them are naked The people here are Tainos. We traded glass beads and bells. They brought parrots , balls of cotton thread and other things. I love and miss you and I cant wait to see you! Love, Niko
