  5. Industrial Security Program Mission - To ensure the protection of classified information in cleared industry.

  6. Industrial Security Program • Executive Order 12829, January 6, 1993 established the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) • NISP Operating Manual (NISPOM), February 2006 • DSS provides NISP oversight on behalf of DoD and 23 other government agencies.

  7. Industrial Security Program DSS Provides Advice and Assistance to Industry regarding: • Personnel and Facility Security Clearances • Certification and Accreditation of Information Systems • Counterintelligence and Threat information • Special Access Programs • Arms, Ammunitions and Explosives Program

  8. Industrial Security Program Provides Oversight and Advice on: • Foreign Ownership, Control or Influence (FOCI) Mitigation • Controls over communications with Parent Company • Technology Protection

  9. Industrial Security Program Provides Oversight and Advice on: • International Programs • Facilitating transfers of Classified Material • Protection of foreign classified entrusted to US industry • Notification of Security Violations

  10. DSS Counterintelligence Office • Security Awareness Briefings • Reporting of Suspicious Activities from Cleared Industry to Law Enforcement, CI and Intelligence Communities • Publish Technology Trends

  11. Industrial Security Program DSS Conducts Security Inspections to: • Ensure protection of classified materials, information and equipment held by industry • Pursue solutions, corrective action • Develop and Reinforce Partnership with Industry Cogswell Award Winner Colorado Springs Field Office

  12. Industrial Security Program Currently 410 FTEs • 54 at DSS Headquarters • 356 at Field Locations San Diego Industrial Security Representatives on a Security Review Information Systems Security Professional Conference
