PURPOSE: Discuss issues related to licensure and advance its understanding and communicate its benefits to the profession and the public. POTENTIAL ACTIVITIES: Promoting opportunities afforded through licensure Communicating the ethical responsibility required of a PE Communicating the model requirements for licensure as a PE Considering trends and issues related to licensureAddressing international licensure issues AAESLicensure Working group
FIRST MEETING: April 19, 2011 Hosted by ASCE AGENDA: NCEES provided a summary of the state of licensure Discussed licensure promotional activities of the societies Develop a more uniform message Improve communication and education on licensure in the societies and in engineering education Started to review the formal policies on licensure of the member societies Develop a formal AAES position on licensure AAESLicensure Working group
NEXT MEETING: Discuss the society positions on licensure and begin to develop a common statement Discuss opportunities for education and promotion Identify other issues, prioritize and set and agenda AAESLicensure Working group
