AAES Member Societies • American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics • American Institute of Chemical Engineers • American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers • Representing AIST, SME, SPE, TMS • American Nuclear Society • American Society for Engineering Education • American Society of Civil Engineers • American Society of Mechanical Engineers • Engineers Without Borders USA • Human Factors and Ergonomics Society • Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers – USA • International Society of Automation • National Association of Forensic Engineers • National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying • National Society of Professional Engineers • Society of American Military Engineers • SPIE – the international society for optics and photonics • Society of Women Engineers

AAES Activities • Disseminate information to Member Societies on opportunities: • To provide members who travel internationally the chance to engage foreign audiences in conversation about the engineering profession (through partnership with the State Department) • To participate in grant proposals • To engage with governmental agencies • Facilitate communication and collaboration among US engineering community • Focusing on STEM, Lifelong Learning, Grand Challenges

  5. AAES Activities • Annually cohost Convocation with the National Academy of Engineering • Topics of importance to the national engineering community • Awards • Seven awards recognize leading engineers • All Member Societies are eligible to nominate

AAES Working Groups • Engineers Forum on Sustainability • Interdisciplinary discussions and information exchange • International Activities Committee • Forum for international engineering practice • Liaison to WFEO, UPADI • Diversity Coalition • Collaboration to promote and be a catalyst for diversity and inclusion

AAES Working Groups • Forum on K-12/STEM • Working to leverage resources for a robust, effective outreach presence • Engineering Education • Forum for advancing the quality of engineering education • Professional Licensure • Advancing the understanding of licensure and discussing licensure issue viewpoints

Engineering Workforce Commission • Authoritative source for accurate, objective reports on engineering workforce statistics, salaries and engineering enrollment and degrees • Annually publish and provide online access to: • Engineering & Technology Degrees • Engineering & Technology Enrollments • Engineering Salary Survey

  9. What’s Next for AAES? • Continuation of Strategic Planning work; specific areas of • Membership • Governance structure • Continuing to grow the membership • Focused outcomes from the Working Groups, specifically relative to STEM and Lifelong Learning
