AEIS and AYP: Different Systems, Different Outcomes • AEIS is State…AYP is Federal • Both use TAKS results as a component of rating schools • AEIS emphasizes percentage of students meeting state standards • AYP emphasizes progressive increase in percentage meeting standards toward Federal goal of all students meeting standards by 2014 Every student a learner … Every learner a graduate … Every graduate a success!

AYP Tests – Subjects and Criteria • Performance • - Reading = 67%* • - Math = 58%** • Mathematics and Reading/ELA • Grades 3-8 and Grade 10 • Graduation Rate and Attendance • Participation = 95% of the students enrolled on the test day must be tested *Increase from 60% in 2008-09 **Increase from 50% in 2008-09 Every student a learner … Every learner a graduate … Every graduate a success!

  5. 2009 AYP Results • All 40 elementary campuses met all AYP requirements • 11 of 12 middle school campuses met all AYP requirements • 5 of 7 high school campuses met all AYP requirements • 1 special campus met AYP requirements • CCISD as a district did not meet requirements for AYP • 57 out of 60 or 95% of CCISD campuses met AYP requirements as compared to 52 out of 60 or 87% of campuses last year Every student a learner … Every learner a graduate … Every graduate a success!

  6. Actions • Only campuses who receive Title I funds are required to comply with federal and state AYP campus improvement processes. Every student a learner … Every learner a graduate … Every graduate a success!

  7. 2% and 1% Special Education Cap • The number of students taking the TAKS Modified test and counted as passed on AYP is limited to 2% of the total number of students tested on all TAKS tests for the subject. • The number of students taking the TAKS Alternative test and counted as passed on AYP is limited to 1% of the total number of students tested on all TAKS tests for the subject. • All students who pass beyond the 2% and 1% limits are counted as non-proficient for AYP accountability regardless if they “met the proficiency” standard or not.
