  2. Green Challenge for Final Year Projects • This challenge seeks to uncover the GREEN THINKING passion of our final year students in their approaches and implementation of their projects.

  3. What is GREEN THINKING? • Broad Definition: • To be mindful of and sensitive to the natural environment in your daily life. • Encompass considerations for creating a sustainable earth ecosystem by • REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE

  4. GREEN THINKING can include, but not limited to, the following • Choice of materials • Approaches in solving the problem • Techniques used • End-of-project disposal considerations • Sustainability of the solution

  5. Submission Criteria • The submitted must be a project done in the final year of a diploma programme. • Students should demonstrate the ability to infuse GREEN THINKING in their Conceive, Design, Implement and Operate phases in their projects. • The group must be able to produce a physical prototype to illustrate the concept.

  6. Submission Criteria • Each group will submit a project write-up according to a provided template. • One photograph of the prototype must be submitted together with the submission template.

  7. Shortlisting Criteria • Relevant application of Green Thinking within scope of project – 30 marks • Evidences of “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” in the implemented initiatives – 40 marks • Ingenuity of the application – 30 marks • Only projects with a prototype will be considered during the shortlisting phase.

  8. Judging Criteria • Projects will be shortlisted for a 10 mins presentation • During the presentation, each group will be judged on: • Application of GREEN THINKING in project (40%) • Ingenuity of the application (40%) • Convincing presentation (20%)

  9. Eligibility and Award • Awards • Gold - $1000 • Silver - $750 • Bronze - $500 • Up to 5 Commendation prizes - $200 • All prize winners must display their project in the SP Engineering Show.
