Allendale County School District VISION • To insure that each child exiting Allendale County Schools will be equipped with the knowledge to support a college entrance or a completer certificate from the vocational school. BELIEFS • We believe that: • All students can be successful • All students can excel to their optimal potential • A higher power exists • Moral character is an important leadership trait • Effective communication is essential to building trust • A nurturing and diverse environment promotes growth • Successful communities collaborate towards common goals
Students Served • Grade 6 through 12 • Max out around 30 to 45 students • Discipline – normally a quarter • Academically behind • Overage • Home life or personal struggles
Academic Programs -- General • Five Periods a day • 1 hour and 5 minute periods • No study hall • No access to PEand Related Artsclasses • Behavioral Intervention Specialist • No Media Center/Library

Academic Programs – Middle School • ELA, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies everyday • Remediation & Exploratory periods to focus on weaknesses

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) – Den Dollars • Students receive Tiger Bucks for exemplifying work at school • Can be used in Tiger store • Tiger store has donated items from community members and middle and high school • Students can also use Tiger Buck to participate in various events
Counseling • Discuss discipline, home life, and personal struggles of students • Developing a success plan • Anger management classes • Referrals to Costal Empire Mental Health
Counseling • Discipline probation • Home visits • Distribution of donations • All discipline requires communication with parents
Technology • Wireless throughout campus • Computers in all classrooms • Smart boards in all classrooms
Technology • Scientific Calculators for classrooms • Usage of web base programs from textbooks • Plato accounts for all students • Teachers are trained on a regular basis in technology
Professional Development • First Tuesday is school based on instructional strategies • Third Tuesday is leadership and PBIS meetings
Professional Development • Principal observes all teachers at least two to three times a semester • Teachers have to observe each other at least two to three times a semester • Each teacher must turn in lesson plans • Each teacher must have one plan per week that differentiates
Community Involvement • Committee meets once a month • Discuss how they can help us and how we can help them • Provides donations and volunteers • Mentoring program

Things to come… • Students assigned out-of-school suspension for non-aggressive rules violations will also be allowed to attend the Alternative School to serve their suspension. Bus transportation must be available for this initiative.
