  6. T-Chart • We will read “State’s Rights” as a class • Afterward, you and your partner will work together to show how the North and South differed on the idea of State’s Rights. • On each side there will be multiple bullet points

  7. Rest of Right Side State’s Rights SOUTH NORTH -laws about high tariffs was unfair -states have rights to nullify (overturn) any law fed. Government passed -supported weaker central government -states have right to leave Union and form own independent country -nullification and states rights would make country weaker -supported strong federal government -People within country make U.S., not states

Reflection Activity- Left Side Directions: • You will write a persuasive letter about State’s Rights. • You will pick a point of view: North or South • You are trying to convince the opposite region, why your beliefs about State’s Rights are correct • Your letter must use the reasons we wrote down on our T-Chart and our notes on the different regions and their sectional needs. • Your letter should be about 4 sentences long and begin with Dear _______ and end with Sincerely • Once you are finished, complete today’s summary.
